Back to AspectKey

Make room for AspectKey.

Add the keyboard in Settings, choose AspectKey when you write, then make it your own.

Setup

Before you start. These steps apply once AspectKey is installed on your iPhone or iPad. App Store: Coming Soon. Google Play: Coming Soon. A public download link is not available yet.
  1. Open the AspectKey app

Open the companion app. If the keyboard is not enabled, its Setup instructions explain how to add it. You can also follow the Settings path below directly.

  2. Add the keyboard in Settings

Open the iPhone or iPad Settings app. Follow this path, then select AspectKey from the list of third-party keyboards:

    General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard… → AspectKey
  3. Switch to AspectKey

Open a writing app such as Notes and tap a normal text field. Touch and hold the globe or keyboard-switch key, then choose AspectKey. Use the same menu whenever you want to switch back.

  4. Choose your language and theme

Return to the AspectKey app. Open Language to choose your keyboard language, and Theme to choose an appearance. Interface Language changes the companion app’s menus; it is separate from the language you type in.

Full Access

An optional step for additional features

Full Access is not required for basic typing. Some features do need it: the sticker panel, adding new text from the clipboard, haptic feedback and custom key sounds. It also enables the iOS supplementary dictionary used for suggestions.

To enable it, open Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → AspectKey, then turn on Allow Full Access. Return to your writing app and select AspectKey again. Sound and haptic options must also be enabled in AspectKey; their availability depends on the device and system settings.

Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → AspectKey → Allow Full Access

First use

Start with a short note. Check that the keyboard language and theme match your choices. Word prediction depends on the selected language, its installed language pack, the prediction setting and the type of text field.

Troubleshooting

If AspectKey is missing from the keyboard list, check that the app is installed and that you added AspectKey in Settings. Close and reopen the writing app, then use the globe menu again. If a feature is unavailable, check its option in AspectKey and the Full Access step above.
